Madeleine Peyroux - This Is Heaven To Me

Open House all day at our house in Le Sud de France. Dad's paintings and drawings. Mum's jams. Leanne's chutney and cross-stitch. 4 bottles of red, 2 bubbly. Not too shabby for lazy Sunday afternoon. Church bells. Roosters. Smoky country air. And iTunes Blues Radio. This was my fave........ Cuz the South of France is heaven to me.

Yuna - Live Your Life / Lullabies

Just discovered Yuna yesterday and so happy I have. Described as "Modern Muslim Chic", Yuna is gracefully making her mark on the music world with her soft, emotional vocals and smooth sounds. Hailing from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, she was inspired by Fiona Apple while growing up. Recently produced by Pharrell Williams, "Live Your Life" is a song that makes you feel like life is so easy and simple, if you just be true to yourself and follow the voice in your heart. "Lullabies" is the most beautiful, emotional song I have heard in a long while....... Loving this girl.

Who is Bali Chick?

DJ, Music and Travel Blogger, Photographer. Currently working as Resident DJ for Shangri-La Resort and Spa and living in The Maldives.

How did it all begin? In June 2011 I was laid off from my Corporate 9-5 office job. In conjunction with this, I was going through a break up. Ultimate freedom and possibility was on the horizon. It scared me a lot at first, but was also exhilarating, the feeling of having nothing.

Although I didn't see it clearly at the time, these two things were just the kick in the ass I needed to listen to my hearts truth. For me, that was leaving the hustle and bustle of Vancouver and making my home on the magical island of Bali, Indonesia.

I was sick of the 9-5 rat race grind. I was bored to death of waiting for my bus every morning in the rain, going to a job where I was helping someone else achieve their dreams. I knew the way out. I knew I wanted ultimate freedom, and that for me, is travel. You create change. Buy a plane ticket. Get a house-sitter. Network. Don't think too much, plan a bit. Say goodbye and just go.

This blog is about listening to yourself and following your dreams. I will post about my day to day life and write reviews on restaurants, local artisans and bring awareness to current issues on the island of Bali. It will be a combination of posts, reviews, photographs, videos, and because I am a DJ, I will also post new music that I find and tracks that I love and want to share with you.
