♛♙ One Year Since I Left Vancouver ♞ ♖

It's one year today since I left Vancouver. It's been a pivotal, beautiful, challenging and widely diverse 365 days. I've gone from Bali to Australia, to Singapore and now France. I plan to go to Portugal and Italy, before heading back to Asia / Australiasia in January.

Plans for 2013 are undetermined. I'm following my heart and trusting. The beautiful Art of Delay. Life is a game of chess.

I'm always trying my very best to live and BE, fully in the moment, but today I am reflecting on the choices of the past year and the path I have chosen. I love the path I have chosen.

What will next year bring? I am asking myself these questions and you must ask yourself them too. What do you want to create? Where do you want to go?

Create your life. Your future depends on the choices you are making and the thoughts you are thinking right now.

Who is Bali Chick?

DJ, Music and Travel Blogger, Photographer. Currently working as Resident DJ for Shangri-La Resort and Spa and living in The Maldives.

How did it all begin? In June 2011 I was laid off from my Corporate 9-5 office job. In conjunction with this, I was going through a break up. Ultimate freedom and possibility was on the horizon. It scared me a lot at first, but was also exhilarating, the feeling of having nothing.

Although I didn't see it clearly at the time, these two things were just the kick in the ass I needed to listen to my hearts truth. For me, that was leaving the hustle and bustle of Vancouver and making my home on the magical island of Bali, Indonesia.

I was sick of the 9-5 rat race grind. I was bored to death of waiting for my bus every morning in the rain, going to a job where I was helping someone else achieve their dreams. I knew the way out. I knew I wanted ultimate freedom, and that for me, is travel. You create change. Buy a plane ticket. Get a house-sitter. Network. Don't think too much, plan a bit. Say goodbye and just go.

This blog is about listening to yourself and following your dreams. I will post about my day to day life and write reviews on restaurants, local artisans and bring awareness to current issues on the island of Bali. It will be a combination of posts, reviews, photographs, videos, and because I am a DJ, I will also post new music that I find and tracks that I love and want to share with you.
